Re-Creation & Response

Starting my A2 course I was set a task to recreate the Britney Spears video 'Hit me baby', we was assigned to groups with people we have never worked with before, this is so we are all able to experience something new as well as seeing what it is like to work with people we have never regularly worked with before. My response was similar to a lot of people, so I believe. Why 'Hit me baby'? Why not a different music video with a song that is not annoying. However when our teachers explained to us why they had decided Britney it made a lot more sense and was more realistic for us to recreate. considering that the music video is filmed within a school, it gives us more access and can allow us to do it better, making it quicker at the same time.

Great Music Video

For the task that I was given, I decided it was a good idea to choose ‘Marilyn Monroe’ by Pharrell Williams. I chose this because I remember the first time that I had watched and the message I thought it displayed. The video is not complex however recording wise there are editing techniques that I do believe requires a specialist. The message I saw it uphold was that for all women everywhere it is okay to be different no matter what you look like on the outside or how you feel about yourself on the inside. All women young or old are beautiful. The fact that you don’t have to compare yourself to someone else such as Marilyn Monroe, Cleopatra or Joan of arc. He sings about how women should be treated. ‘A man will want you for who you are not what you look like.’ It’s catchy and inspirational. It does have some visual difficulties if it was attempted to be recreated by someone because of the out of space effect then it wouldn’t be the exact same. However I do love the song.
